What’s Right for Me?

When you purchase disability insurance, you are protecting your most valuable asset, your income. Your ability to earn an income supports the lifestyle you enjoy and helps you pursue future goals and dreams.

So, it’s important to carefully consider what your situation would be if you suddenly lost your income due to a disabling accident or sickness.

Would you be able to maintain your current standard of living? For how long?

A simple way to consider this is to add up your monthly expenses and compare the amount to the total income you could expect from other sources.

For a quick check, use our Needs Assessment Calculator.

Or if you prefer, complete this printable financial worksheet.

These tools will show you how much additional monthly income you would need to maintain your standard of living. That’s a good place to start when considering what type of disability insurance policy is right for you.

How much disability insurance is enough?

Simply stated, you should have enough disability insurance to pay your monthly living expenses, so you and your family can focus on what’s most important during such a critical time…your recovery.
